About ClipTrack

ClipTrack helps you identify the anime scene in front of you, then keep track of everything you watch — movies, TV and anime, in one place.

Anime Finder

Upload a screenshot and Anime Finder tells you which anime it came from, which episode, and the exact timestamp — along with how confident the match is. It works best on a clean frame from the anime itself: crop out social-media text and black bars, and avoid heavily filtered edits.

Your screenshot is sent to trace.moe to run the search, and it is used for nothing else. ClipTrack does not store it: it is held in memory for the length of one request, never written to disk, never saved to our database or cloud storage, and never attached to an account. What trace.moe does with it afterwards is covered by their policy, not ours.

The preview images shown beside a match are loaded through ClipTrack rather than directly from trace.moe, so your browser never has to contact them. Those preview frames — not your screenshot — are cached on our server, so a scene you searched for can leave a trace there. The full detail is in our Privacy Policy.

Browsing and tracking

Discover, search and every title page are open to everyone — no account, no sign-in. An account is only needed for the two features that have to remember something for you: your Vault (Watching, Plan to Watch, Completed) and your Saved Scenes.

Where the data comes from

  • Movie and TV information, artwork and streaming availability come from TMDB. This product uses the TMDB API but is not endorsed or certified by TMDB.
  • Anime information comes from MyAnimeList, via the Jikan API.
  • Scene matching is powered by trace.moe.

Because ClipTrack depends on these services, a section of a page will occasionally be unavailable when one of them is having trouble. When that happens the rest of the page keeps working, and the affected part says so.

Still being built

ClipTrack is under active development and is publicly available. Anime Finder, browsing, search, title details, accounts, the Vault and Saved Scenes are all working now. Anime pages depend on the Jikan API, which has been unavailable for an extended period, so anime data is often missing while movie and TV data is not.
